Gathering in the lobby of The Grand

The first planting, on November 16, 2024, began in the lobby of the apart-hotel The Grand: guests were gathered for 15:00. A grand piano played in the lobby, paintings of pomegranates stood on easels, and the artists Vusal Najafzade and Arzu Muradova led a workshop.

The sources do not say exactly where the avenue begins relative to The Grand — this is a gathering point, not the address of the boulevard.

A palm avenue with lanterns

Then comes a tiled path between date palms and park lanterns. Along it stones are scattered and tall dune grasses are planted, and behind them are the resort's white houses with red awnings.

Young pomegranates with tags

In the flower beds by the path are thin pomegranate saplings on supports, each with a tag bearing a picture of a tree. The tags of 2025 read “Pomegranate Boulevard — Pomegranate Trees from Goychay.”

Planting among the dune grasses

The holes for the new trees are dug right in the strip of silvery grasses along the path. Gardeners in green uniforms hand out spades, a bucket of soil and a watering can, show how to cover the roots and help the children.

Closer to the beach on planting day stood a mature pomegranate tree in a planter — with red fruit on its branches, so that people could see what the saplings would become. According to the resort's news, the young trees could bear their first fruit as early as the next October; we found no confirmation that this happened.

Sea Access

The avenue leads out to the beach: sand, straw umbrellas and the Caspian on the horizon. On planting day hundreds of guests walked along it, from hole to hole, all the way to the sea.

The area by the restaurant The Choyxona

The second planting, on November 16, 2025, was held next to the restaurant The Choyxona; a free shuttle ran from the main entrance of The Grand from 13:30. Here the boulevard is a light tiled avenue with lanterns, flower beds of oleander, lavender and silvery groundcovers, palms and olive trees.
